Lora "Jeanette" (Fishback) Rager, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Select Specialty Hosptial in Indianapolis. She was born on Dec. 20,1927, in Williamstown (Decatur County), the daughter of Everett and Emma (Meyers) Fishback and moved to Manilla (Rush County) in 1932 where she graduated from the former Manilla High School in 1945. She married Herbert C. Rager in 1964.
Jeanette was proceeded in death by her parents, husband and sister, June Ellen Draper. Survivors include three sons, Bret (Regina) Fishback of Shelbyville, Greg (Deedee Barnes) Rager of Indianapolis and Everett Rager of Shelbyville; three granddaughters, Kristen, Dottie and Jorja; three grandsons, Josh, Grant and Johnathon; sisters, Mary Nickolas, Linda (Jim) Parton, "sister-like" niece, Marsha Neeb; daughter-in-law and close friend, Amy Judah of Shelbyville; and many other nieces and nephews. She also appreciated becoming friends and card-playing buddies with Peggy Tillison later in life.
Jeanette had worked at the former Shelbyville factories of TRW Cinch, Excel and Admiral. She also had owned and operated a beauty shop in Manilla and also an antique shop in Alabama. Jeanette was a life member in the ladies auxiliaries of the VFW Post 2695 and American Legion Victory Post #70, Indiana DAV Auxiliaries, Shelby County Salon #281 (8/40), Pendleton AMVETS Auxiliary Post #26, Eaton Rapids, Michigan VFW National Home for Children, Shelby County Vision Impaired Group, Shelby Senior Services Horizon Center, charter member of the Shelbyville Red Hat Mamas and Shelby County Senior Red Hats. Jeanette loved playing cards with her many friends, collecting costume jewelry and small collectibles.
Viewing will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Layton Cemetery in Rush County, followed by a dinner at the Manilla Volunteer Fire Department, 3271 S. Washington St. in Manilla. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Senior Center Horizon Center in care of the funeral home.

Herbert C. Rager, 82, of Shelbyville, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Major Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1921, in Westmoreland, Penn., he was the son of Roy and Catherine (Dennison) Rager.
Survivors include three sons Bret Fishback of Boggstown, Greg A. Rager of Fairland and Everett L. Rager of Rushville; one brother, Richard Rager of Ocala, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Josh Fishback, Grant Rager and Kristen Rager. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Mr. Rager lived most of his life in Shelbyville. He was a carpenter. Mr. Rager was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving with the 28th Division. He was a life member and former commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2695; and member of American Legion Post No. 70, AMVets Post No. 26 in Pendleton and Disabled American Veterans.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Humphrey officiating. Burial will be in Layton Cemetery in Rush County, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations. Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. National Home for Children, in care of Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
