It is with no small degree of sadness that we announce the death of Grandma Records. She has been very ill for several years and has long felt that she had but a short time to remain here. Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6, death’s welcome angel came and beckoned her to join her many friends who had already crossed the river to that home beyond where she now awaits her friends left behind. She was 93 years of age.

------------
Mt. Auburn Feb. 5, 1889 -- William P. Records died this morning at the ripe old age of eighty-seven years. Deceased was born in Clermont County, Ohio, on the 27th of November, 1801. He came to Indiana in 1820, locating in Bartholomew county, where he lived ten years, from there he moved to this township, about one half mile north of Mt. Auburn, where he has lived ever since. He has been married 63 years. His wife still survives him. To them were born twelve children, eight of whom are living. He has been a member of the Christian Church for 56 years. In politics Mr. Records was first a Whig -- his first vote was cast for John Quincy Adams, for President. After the Whig party was no more he joined the Republican party. He helped lay out the village of Mt. Auburn, which he had the sole honor of naming. He called it Black Hawk, after an Indian who was then chief of the Sacs and Foxes. Mr. Records was a man who was honest and upright in all his relations in life; he was respected and esteemed by all who knew him. He is dead, but his memory will live and is cherished in the hearts of the people in this community.
