Ruby M. Risley, 88, Brookfield, died Monday at W.S. Major Hopsital. Mrs. Risley, a 1916 Broad Ripple High School graduate, was awarded the 1984 Sertoma "Service to Mankind" award. She was a member of the Brookfield Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school and was pianist. A daughter of John A. and Sarah (Hankins) Messersmith, she was born June 2, 1898, in Malott Park, Marion County. She was married in 1916 to Roger A. Risley, who preceded her in death.Wednesday, May 13, 1987

Surviving are sons, Joe Risley, Shelbyville, and Richard Risley, Brookfield; daughters, Patricia Alloway and Eloise Maners, Indianapolis, and Helen Lee, Brookfield; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Little and Sons Mortuary, Acton Chapel, with the Rev. Everett Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery, Marion County. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookfield Baptist Church.
