Wife and Mother Dies Suddenly
in a Low Resort at Indianapolis
----------
(Indianapolis Journal)
Amos Sandefur, a junk dealer, of Shelbyville, came here yesterday and identified the body of the woman in Tutewiler’s morgue who died Monday night in the resort of Lizzie Oliver, 132 South Missouri street, as that of his wife. She left home a week ago in company with Mrs. Hester Cherry. Sandefur was much grieved to learn of the circumstances of his wife’s death and the character of the place where she had been stopping. He said he did not know why she left Shelbyville, as she was employed in a restaurant there at good wages. He thought she came here to work. Their three children have been placed in an orphan’s home at Shelbyville.
(Shelbyville)
The remains of Mrs. Sandefur were returned here yesterday afternoon and taken to the home of her parents, near the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church in Johnson county, where interment will follow tomorrow. Her age was twenty-three years and her maiden name was Arwin. The report that the woman had committed suicide is denied and the cause of death given was pneumonia. D. B. Wilson & Son have charge of the remains.

Suicide.
----------
Arizona Sandifur [sic], son of Sylvester Sandifur, committed suicide last Saturday morning by hanging himself. For several days he had acted somewhat strangely and seemed to be troubled in mind, yet without any apparent cause.
Saturday morning he left the house after breakfast and was missed soon by his wife, who went to the stable to look for him. She was horrified to find her husband hanging in one of the stalls. He had tied a halter strap to one of the rafters, first running the strap through the buckle, which formed a free loop. This was placed around his neck and the weight of his body when suspended tightened the loop and strangled him to death. Mrs. Sandifur hurriedly untied the strap but too late to save the life of her husband.
Funeral services were held Monday.
