Mrs. Hazel Schonecker
Dies at Mother's Home

Mrs. Hazel (Rhoades) Schonecker, 32, Shelbyville woman critically injured in a diving accident at Lake Maxinkuckee last summer, died at 9:45 a.m. today at the home of her mother, Mrs. Bert Thompson, 309 Walker St. Death was attributed to neck and back injuries received July 29, 1948, when Mrs. Schonecker dived from a pier into the lake, located in northern Indiana near Plymouth. The local woman was confined in an Indianapolis hospital for several months before being returned to her mother's home here.
A lifelong city resident except for 10 years spent in Indianapolis, Mrs. Schonecker was born Sept. 6, 1916, and was the daughter of Harry O. and Verlie (Pope) Rhoades, both of whom survive. Mrs. Schoneker was first married to Woodrow Craig and later was married to Arthur Schonecker of Indianapolis on July 25,* 1948.
Mr. Schonecker survives along with one daughter, Sandra Craig, and two step-children, Ronnie Jean and Shirley Ann Craig, all of Shelbyville.
The deceased was a member of the East Tenth St. Methodist Church of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Trinity Methodist Church in this city, with Rev. Josephine Huffer and Rev. A. M. Hamilton officiating. Friends may call at the Sleeth Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
