Funeral services for Melinda B. Schott,
85, formerly of 146 E. Broadway, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St.
Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Schott, who had been in failing health for two
years died at 11 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Manor Convalescent Center.
She was born 15 May 1898,
a daughter of Hubert and Delia (Pilotte) Belange. She
married Lewis F. Schott on June 9, 1916 and he preceded her in death
on March 22, 1960. She had lived in Shelbyville since 1916, moving here
from Fowler.
Two grandchildren, Steve Schott
and Mrs. Larry (Hettie) Sandman, and two step-grandchildren, Larry Schott
of Reston, Virginia, and Robert Latta of Denver, Indiana,
survive along with a brother, Hubert Belange of Lafayette.
Three great-grandsons also survive.
A son, stepson,
stepdaughter, two sisters and five brother all preceded in death.
Funeral services and
burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. William Ernst officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and the rosary recited at 7:30
p.m. at the Ewing Mortuary.
Memorial contributions
may be made to the Sisters of St. Frances in Oldenburg.

Jacob M. (Jake) Schott,
70, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home one mile north of Waldron on
old U.S. 421 at 12:45 p.m. on Friday.
Mr. Schott has been a
lifelong resident of Shelby County, a farmer and a stock and grain buyer.
He was a World War I veteran. On March 29, 1893, he was born at the home where
he died, the son of Andrew and Caroline (Gephart) Schott.
A brother, Emil B. Schott,
survives at the same address.
Funeral services
will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the St. Vincent's Catholic Church, where Mr.
Schott was a member. Rev. Anthony Seger will officiate and burial will be in St.
Joseph Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Ewing Mortuary after 2:00
p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the
mortuary.
Friends are requested by
the family to contribute to their favorite charity in lieu of flowers.

Death Claims L. F. Schott
Ex-City Official's Rites Will Be Friday

Lewis F. Schott,
80, former Shelbyville electrical inspector died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at his
home, 146 E. Broadway. He had been ill for six months with a complication of
diseases.
Mr. Schott, a son of Ferdinand A. and Anna Schott,
was born July 28, 1879 in Vitrey, France. He came to Shelbyville in 1917 and
from that year to 1922 served as chief engineer for the Public Service Company.
He served as city electrical inspector from 1938 to last year when he retired
be- cause of ill health.
He was an honorary member
of the Shelby County Art League, a member of the Shelbyville Camera Club and a
member of the Apostolic Cristian Church in Cissna Park, Ill.
He was married to Melinda Belange in
Louisville, Kentucky, June 9, 1946, and she survives with two sons, Charles F.
and Harry Schott of the city. A daughter, one sister and one
brother preceded in death. The following sisters survive:
Mrs. Bertha McDonald of this city, Mrs. Anne
Krantz, Morton, Ill., Miss Caroline Knapp, Claytonville,
Ill.,
Miss Catherine Schott, Cissna Park, Ill., and Mrs. Leah Seymour,
Rankin, Ill., and Mrs. Martha Martin, Roanoke, Ill. There
are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral rites will be
held at the Ewing Mortuary Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sam Aeschllman of
Bluffton and Rev. Ezra Feller of Cissna Park officiating. Burial will be
in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4:00 p.m.
Thursday.

Miss Josephine Schott, 69, Dies North of Waldron

Ill for the past two
years, Miss Josephine Schott, age 63, died at 6:30 a.m. today at her
home on State Road 29, one mile north of Waldron.
Born in Marion township
on November 9, 1883, she was the daughter of Andrew and
Caroline Gephart Schott. She is survived by two brothers, Jake M.
and Emil B. Schott, with whom she lived.
She was a member of the
St. Vincent Catholic Church, and funeral services will be held there at 9:00
a.m. Thursday with Rev. John Bankowski officiating, assisted by Rev. Clement

Mrs. Mary Ann [Schroeder] Schott,
age eighty-six, widow of Joseph Schott, former resident of this city,
died at her home in Cincinnati, O., Sunday night. She had resided in Cincinnati
since 1911.
Survivors are one
daughter and two sons, Mrs. Charles Weigel and Carl and Ed Schott,
all of Cincinnati. The body will arrive in this city Wednesday morning and
funeral services will be held at the Ewing Mortuary Wednesday afternoon at 2:30
o'clock. Burial will be made in the Forest Hill cemetery.

Andrew Schott,
aged 61, well known Shelby County farmer, was found dead in bed at his home,
about five miles southeast of Shelbyville, at 5:00 o'clock this morning. Death
was caused by a heart attack, according to Dr. W.R. Tindall, county coroner, who
investigated. Dr. Tindall also said that Mr. Schott probably died at about 3:00
o'clock this morning. He had not been ill and had worked hard all day Thursday.
The deceased is survived
by two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Hulsman, who lived with her brother,
and Mrs. William Burkhart, of Cincinnati; six nephews, three nieces
and three great-nephews.
Mr. Schott was a member
of the St. Vincent Catholic church, where funeral services will be held at 9:00
o'clock Monday morning. The Rev. Bernard Reidford will officiate. Burial will be
made in the St. Vincent cemetery in charge of Ezra Carmony.

HEART ATTACK FATAL TO FRANK
H. SCHOTT

Frank H. Schott,
influential Shelby county farmer, died suddenly at 12:30 o'clock Sunday after-
noon at his home on State Road 29, east of the St. Vincent Catholic
church. Mr. Schott suffered a heart attack about noon and lapsed into a
state of coma from which he never roused. Although he had been ill since
last Friday, his condition was not considered serious, and his sudden death is a
shock to his hundreds of friends throughout the community.
Mr. Schott, a native of
Dearborn county, Indiana, was born 25 Nov 1870, being at the time of death,
sixty-two years, ten months and twenty-six days old. He came to Shelby
county in childhood and in later life became one of the community's most
successful farmers. He was a member of the St. Vincent church, where the
funeral services are to be held.
Mr. Schott was never
married. He leaves a brother, Andrew Schott; three sisters,
Miss
Carrie, and Mrs. Katherine Hulsman, at home, and Mrs. Amelia Burkhardt,
of Cincinnati; three nieces, Mrs. Joe Merkel, of Dayton, O.; Mildred
and
Alvina Burkhardt, of Shelby county, and five nephews, Francis V. Hulsman, Billy,
Norbert, Gerard and Charles

Charles W. Schott,
lifelong resident of Shelby county, died at 8 o'clock this morning at his home,
seven miles east of Shelbyville on State Road No. 29. Mr. Schott's death was
caused from tubercu- losis from which he had suffered for several months and the
announcement was received with keenest regret by his hundreds of friends in this
community.
Funeral services are to
be held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at the St. Vincent Catholic church, east
of Shelbyville with the Rev. Pierce Dixon, pastor of the church, officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Vincent cemetery with the Charles M. Ewing,
undertaker, in charge.
Mr. Schott was a son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schott and was born in Shelby
county May 19, 1886, being at the time of death, forty-three, seven months and
seventeen days old. He was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic church and was
also affiliated with the Y.M.I. of that institution.
He is survived by two
brothers, Jake M., and
Emil D. Schott, and a sister, Miss Josephine Schott, all
at home.

Aged Man Died From Heat Trouble
Andrew Schott Sr., Passed Away at Home East of City --- Funeral Monday

Andrew Schott Sr.,
eighty year old, an aged and influential farmer of Shelby County, died at his
home, six miles east of the city, on the east Michigan road at 7:30 o'clock
Thursday evening from heart trouble with which he had suffered for several
months.
Funeral services will be
conducted at the St. Vincent church at 9 o'clock Monday morning, the Rev. F.W.
Wolf, the Rev. Mr. Ebnet and the Rev. John C. Rager, officiating. Burial will be
in the St. Joseph cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing, funeral director.
Mr. Schott was born in
New Alsace, Dearborn county, Ind., June 2, 1845, and was the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Schott. On November 9, 1880, he was united in
marriage with Caroline
Gephart and to this union five children were born, one daughter and
three sons are now living. The daughter is Miss Josephine Schott, and
the sons are Charles, Emil and Jacob Schott, all at home.
Mrs. Schott preceded her husband in death about nine weeks ago.
Mr. Schott had lived on
the farm where he died for thirty-five years. He was a devoted member of the St.
Vincent church as was a man of fine qualities. He has spent practically his
entire life in Shelby county and had always followed the occupation of farming,
until a few years ago, when he retired owing to his advanced age.

Mrs. Caroline Schott,
71 years old, wife of Andrew Schott, died at her home 1-1/2 miles north
of Waldron at 7:30 o'clock this morning from a complication if diseases with
which she had suffered for more than a year.
Funeral services will be
conducted at the St. Joseph church at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning, the Rev. Mr.
Wolf and the Rev. John C. Rager officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing, funeral director.
Mrs. Schott, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gephard was born in Dearborn county, Ind.,
Nov. 9, 1854. On November 9, 1880, she was united in marriage to Andrew Schott
and to this union five children were born, one daughter and three sons, of whom
survive. They are Miss
Josephine Schott, Charles, Emil and Jacob Schott.
Mrs. Schott was a devoted member of the St. Joseph church and had been a
resident of the Waldron community for more than thirty-five years. She was well
liked by all who knew her and was a woman of lovely character.
Beside the husband,
daughter and sons, Mrs. Schott is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Josephine
Winteroth, of New York City, Mrs. Louis Scherer and Mrs. Lena Bany,
of Indianapolis.

Former Resident Succumbs From Tuberculosis ---
The Body Sent Here

Word was received here
today from Colorado Springs, Colo., stating that Miss Anna Schott,
42 years old, died at that place Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Her death
was caused from tuberculosis, from which she had suffered for about three years.
Miss Schott was a resident of the St. Vincent neighborhood until three years
ago, when she went to Colorado for the benefit of her health. The body will be
sent to this city and the burial will be made in the St. Vincent cemetery.
The time of the funeral will be announced later by Morris H. Sleeth, funeral
director.
Miss Schott was the
daughter of the late Charles and Caroline Schott and was born
in this county in 1880, where she had spent practically all of her life.
For some time, she was
employed in a large department store in Cincinnati, Ohio, but later gave up her
position on account of ill health. Miss Schott was a member of the St.
Vincent Catholic Church and was prominently known throughout the county.
Being a woman of pleasing personality she made friends wherever she went and her
death is mourned by many.
She is survived by four
sisters, namely, Mrs. Amelia Burkhart and Mrs. Katherine
Hulsman, of Cincinnati, O.; Mrs. Mary Clouse
and Miss Carrie Schott, of this county; two brothers, Frank and Andrew Schott,
of this county.

An Aged Woman Called to Rest
Caroline Schott Died at Her Home East of Shelbyville Friday Afternoon

Funeral Monday Morning

Mrs. Caroline [Buchert] Schott,
widow of the late
Charles Schott, died at her home four miles east of Shelbyville on the
Michigan road, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mrs. Schott passed her 80th
birthday five days ago. She was born in Dearborn County, on July 25, 1840, and
came to this county in 1880. She was a devoted member of the St. Vincent Church
and was a member of the St. Anne society of that congregation. She left two
sons, Frank
and Andrew Schott and five daughters: Mrs. Mary Clouse, Miss Carrie Schott,
who lived with their mother;
Miss
Annie Schott of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Mrs. Victor Hulsman
and
Mrs. William
Bankhart [Burkhart] of Cincinnati. The funeral will be held
Monday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Vincent Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Bosler
officiating. The interment will be made in the church cemetery in charge of
Sanders Hendrickson.

Former Resident is Dead at Cincinnati
Joseph Schott Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon After a Short Illness

Joseph Schott,
formerly a well known resident of this city died at his late home in Cincinnati,
Ohio, yesterday afternoon, May 20th, at 3 o'clock, at the age of sixty-five
years. During his residence here he was employed as a finisher in the Schmoe
furniture factory, but five years ago he moved to Cincinnati to offer his
children a great opportunity in life. Mr. Schott suffered a complication
of diseases for the last three months and during the last few weeks his
condition became so serious that there were no hopes of recovery, thus his death
did not come unexpectedly to his relatives and many friends in this city. The
deceased is survived by his wife, Mary, one daughter,
Mrs. Emma Weigel, two sons, Edward and Carl; two
sisters, Mrs. Stears and Mrs.
Weigel and one brother, William Schott, all of Cincinnati.
The funeral services will
beheld at the German Evangelical Protestant church here, Sunday after- noon at
2:30 o'clock, Rev. S. Caldemeyer officiating. The internment will be made in
Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Ralph J. Edwards. The Court of Honor lodge
will have charge of the service at the cemetery.

SHELBYVILLE -- Joseph
Schott, 65, a resident of this city for many years, is dead. His
widow, daughter, two sons, two sisters and a brother survive.

Theresa Alma,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schott, died at their home, No. 186
West Hendricks street at 4 a.m. Friday, September 23rd, aged 20 years, 10 months
and 28 days. The deceased has been a patient sufferer from the lung trouble for
the past year. She was a prominent young worker in the German Evangelical church
until her illness caused her to cease her active work among her church people.
Funeral services will be held at the German Evangelical church at 2:30 p.m.,
Sunday September 25th, Dr. Winters officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill
cemetery in charge of Edwards & Hageman.
