RITES  SET  FOR
CHARLES  SIMS
----------
          Services for  Charles B. Sims,  68, 1110 Meridian St., well known local man and former Shelbyville High School teacher, will be at the Ewing Mortuary Thursday at 2:00 p.m.  The Rev. James Horner will officiate and burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call at the mortuary after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.  Mr. Sims died Monday at Major Hospital, where he was admitted Sunday night.  He had been ill three months.
          After graduating from Wasbash College, Mr. Sims taught seven years in the Lebanon school system before moving to Shelbyville in 1930.  He was a teacher in the science department of Shelbyville High School from 1930 until 1944 when he retired from teaching.  He then entered the sales division of Mobil Oil Co., where he was employed until his retirement in 1967.  He was a member of Boone County Lodge No. 9 F.&A.M., and the Scottish Rite.
          Born in Cyclone on August 14, 1902, Mr. Sims was the son of  John C. and Icy Nora (Buntin) Sims.  He married Rachel M. Wilcoxon on July 28, 1926, and she survives.  Also surviving are a daughter,  Mrs. W. L. (Georgianna) Green  of the Marion Road, a brother,  John C. Sims,  Lebanon, and two grandchildren,  Karen Jane and  Bradley Jay Anderson.

CHARLES  SIMS
DIES  AT  68 ----------
          Charles B. Sims, 68, of 1110 Meridian St., well known local man and a former Shelbyville High School teacher for many years, died today at 11:40 a.m. at Major Hospital, where he had been admitted Sunday.
          Services will be announced by the Ewing Mortuary.

MRS. BERTHA SIMS
CALLED BY DEATH

          Mrs. Bertha Candler [Hoops] Sims,  73 years of age, died at the home of her daughter,  Mrs. Laura Leek,  1540 Locust Street, Terre Haute, at 6:15 o'clock Tuesday evening.  She was a member of the Burris Chapel United Brethren church near Linton.
          Survivors include four daughters,  Mrs. Daisy Comer  of Pennsylvania,  Mrs. Jennie [sic--Jannie] Templeton  of California;  Mrs. Laura Leek,  at whose home she died in Terre Haute and  Mrs. Nellie Padgett  of Linton; one son  William Candler  of Los Angeles, Cal., and one sister,  Mrs. Ada Miller  of Linton.  Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
          The body was taken to the Thomas Funeral Home in Terre Haute and later returned to the Leek home where funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon with the Rev. L. E. Peyton officiating.  Burial will be made in the Roselawn cemetery.

INFANT  SIMMS

          J. T. Simms,  infant son of  Mr. and Mrs. John Simms, 625 south Pike street, died at the home of the parents at 6 o'clock Tuesday evening.  Infantile troubles caused the child's death.  It had been ill for the past several weeks.  The babe is the youngest of a family of 12 children.

          The funeral services of the late  Turner Sims  were held at the house, No. 87 East Broadway at two p.m. to-day.  Rev. J. R. T. Lathrop officiating.  Interment in the City cemetery by Edwards & Hageman.

          The death of  Turner Simms  occurred this morning at his home, No. 87 East Broadway, at two o'clock of typhoid fever.  Deceased had been ill seven weeks and was sixty years old.  He was an industrious man and leaves a wife and several children.  Time of funeral has not been set.

         Joannah, eleven year old daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Turner Sims, died at their home No. 177 South Montgomery st, at 9 a.m., Thursday, July 11th, of lung trouble.  Funeral at the house at 2 p.m., Saturday, Rev. J. R. T. Lathrop, officiating.  Interment in the city cemetery by Cummins & Edwards.
