William R. “Barney” Southworth, 88, Shelbyville, died Tuesday.
Born Nov. 7, 1911, in Georgetown, Ky., s/o  William E. and Minnie (Green) Southworth.
Married  Ruth Ensminger  on Dec. 29, 1945; she preceded him in death on March 6.
Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
Moved from Rushville in 1951.
Meter reader in Shelbyville for Cinergy/PSI for 25 years, a security guard for KCL for three years and also worked security for the former Frisch’s restaurant, Shelbyville; retired in 1975.
Member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, William C. Southworth, Shelbyville, and  David A. Southworth, Kissimmee, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Lillian) Vanscoy, Mitchell, and  Mrs. Jack (Janet) Spain, Greensburg; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Ziehmer officiating.
Burial:  Forest Hill Cemetery.

Ruth Southworth, 89, Shelbyville, died Monday.
Born Jan. 14, 1911, in Ripley County, d/o  David B. and Anna (Cady) Ensminger.
Married  William R. Southworth; he survives.
Housewife and lived in Shelbyville since 1951.
Employed with Woolworth Department Store from 1963 to 1968 and with Major T. Jester Department Store from 1968 until she retired in 1973.
Member of First Christian Church, Shelbyville, and a 50-year member of Versailles Order Eastern Star Chapter 333. Other survivors include two sons, William C. Southworth, Shelbyville, and  David A. Southworth, Kissimmiee, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Lillian) Vanscoy, Orleans, and  Mrs. Jack (Janet) Spain, Greensburg; one sister, Mrs. Hugh (Madge) Jackson, Walcott; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and one grandson.

Burial:  Forest Hill Cemetery.
