Irene Margaret Stiers, 89, of Manilla, died this morning, Jan. 3, 2002, Indianapolis.
Born June 26, 1912, in Shelby County, d/o  George and Catherine (Callahan) Kuhn.  Married  Lowell Russell Stiers  on Dec. 5, 1939.  Preceded her in death, March 1973.
Survivors include two sons, Richard George Stiers  of Stacy, Minn., Kenneth Lowell Stiers  of Manilla; one daughter, Kathryn Louise Theobald  of Indianapolis; one brother, Clyde E. Kuhn  of Waldron; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Lynn Stiers, and two brothers, Chester Kuhn  and  Lawrence Kuhn.
Homemaker.  Lived most of her adult life in Rush County.
Attended Manilla High School.
Member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she played the piano for many years.
Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home, 232 W. Broadway St., with the Rev. Dr. Mary Lundgren.
Burial:  Zion Cemetery in Shelby County.

          A baby girl born to  Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Stiers, of Orange township, Rush county, died at Major hospital Saturday morning shortly after birth.  Funeral services will be in charge of D. E. Carmony.

Rites Are Conducted For Janet Lynne Stiers

          Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the home of  Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Stiers, of Orange township, Rush county, for their infant daughter, Janet Lynne, who died shortly after birth Saturday at W.S. Major hospital.  Burial was made in the Zion Evangelical Church cemetery.

DIES  IN  ELKHART

Body of Mrs. Mary Frances Styers to
Be Brought Here.
----------
          Mrs. Mary Frances Styers,  of Toledo, Ohio, died in Elkhart, Saturday afternoon at four o'clock where she was taken ill while visiting relatives enroute from this city city to her home in Toledo.  Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church in Elkhart Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock after which the body will be brought here to the home of a niece,  Mrs. George H. Means,  of 505 East Washington street.  Burial will be in the Moravian cemtery[sic] at Hope, Wednesday, the exact time to be announced later.

FUNERAL  CHANGED.

          Funeral arrangements for  Mrs. Mary Frances Styers,  who passed away Sunday, August 28, were changed after the announcement had been made in the local paper.  Mrs. Styers was to have been buried at the Moravian cemetery at Hope on Wednesday, but interment was made at Elkhart, Ind., this morning.
