RITES  SET

          Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul, for  William R. Sumpter,  53, St. Paul.  Mr. Sumpter died Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at IPI University Hospital, where he had been a patient three weeks.  He had been ill four weeks.
          Burial will be in Paul Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 o'clock this evening.
          Mr. Sumpter formerly was employed with St. Paul Bakery.  He was born July 14, 1916 in St. Omer, the son of  George and Jennie Belle (Pope) Sumpter.  Only survivors are several cousins.  A sister preceded in death.

County Man's Death Caused By
Skull Fracture Inflicted by Horse.

          John W. Sumpter,  75, former Shelby county resident, died at the home of his daughter,  Mrs. Cecil Dorsey,  near Greensburg, at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday from a skull fracture.  He was injured Monday when kicked by a horse.
          He was born May 26, 1868, in Decatur county.  Mr. Sumpter was married to  Hattie Collee.  Her death occurred June 10, 1903.  He was a member of the Gwynneville Christian Church.
          Surviving are seven children  Glen,  Earlington, Ky.,  Harry,  Akron, O.,  Kenneth  serving in the United States Army and stationed in South Dakota,  Perry Sumpter  in the U. S. Navy, stationed at Norfolk, Va.,  Mrs. Cecil Dorsey,  Greensburg,  Mrs. Lena Gregory,  near Shelbyville,  Mrs. Margaret Cross,  Rushville, and two grandchildren.
          Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the U. B. Chapel, south of St. Paul, with the Rev. Charles Galbraith, Burney, officiating.  Burial in Union Chapel cemetery in charge of D. E. Carmony, of St. Paul.  Friends may call at the Gragory home on State Road 29 after noon today.
