HEART TROUBLE HAS FATAL EFFECT
----------
Caused Death of John Tanner,
One of the Prosperous Farmers of Shelby County
----------
Was Feeding Stock At The Time
------
While at work in his stable, John S. Tanner
took suddenly ill at his farm, west of town, yesterday afternoon, and before a physician could arrive he expired.
Mr. Tanner, who was one of the best known farmers in Shelby county, complained a short time before his death. He told his farm hand, Elijah Hopper, who was near, that his heart pained him. He then reclined upon some hay in the barn. Shortly afterwards he remarked that he believed he was dying, and he seemed to be suffering great pain. A minute afterwards he was dead. Mr. Tanner had been in this city during the morning and he purchased some seed corn which he took to his farm. He planted corn until rain in the evening stopped him, when he began to do the chores around the farm. It was while engaged in this work that he died. Deceased was fifty-one years of age. He had suffered from heart trouble for some time. He leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. John Daniels.
