Garl E. Trees, 67, 614 Miller Ave., retired salesman, died ... this morning at his home. ... [He] was born in Shelby County on Oct. 9, 1895, the son of William and Annis (Lemasters) Trees. In 1921, he married Allean Eck, who survives with a son, William Trees of Pompano Beach, Fla., three grandchildren, and a great-grandson. Mr. Trees was a member of the local Elks Lodge. Services will be held at the Carmony Funeral Home here ... Rev. Phillip Hodgkins will officiate and burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. ...

Allean Eck (1896-1979) was the daughter of William & Sarah (Favors) Eck of St. Paul and Shelbyville, and a first cousin to my grandmother, Sarah (Eck) Mitchell of St. Paul and Waldron.

Rites for Fairland Woman
To Be Conducted Thursday

In failing health for the
past six years and in a serious condition for one week, Mrs. Maude Treece
died at her home in Fairland Monday at 11:45 p.m.
A native of Shelby
county, Mrs. Treece had spent her entire life in the Fairland community with the
exception of six years at Dixon, Ill. She was the daughter of Robert
N. and Rosie (Klinger) Smith. On August 8, 1930, she was
married to Gordon Treece, who survives. She and Mr. Treece
operated a confectioner in Fairland.

Mrs. Sarah Ann Trees, Widow of David Trees,
Dies At Daughter's Home

FUNERAL TO BE AT CHURCH
----------
Mrs. Sarah Ann Trees, widow of David Trees, died at 7:00 o'clock Wednesday night at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Julia Pherigo, 1109 Harrison Avenue. Death was caused by a complication of diseases.
At the time of death the deceased was ninety-five years old, having been born May 26, 1838, in Shelby county. Her parents were Greenup and Nancy Stafford. On May 25, 1854, she was married to David Trees, to which union three children were born, two of whom survive.
Mrs. Trees was a lifelong resident of Shelby county and was a devoted member of the Waldron Baptist church. Her husband died in 1901.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Angeline Brooks and A. N. Trees, of Shelbyville; one brother, Albert Stafford, of this county; nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Lewis Creek Baptist church at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon with the Rev. E. E. Weaver, of Waldron, officiating. Burial will be in the Lewis Creek cemetery, in charge of Charles M. Ewing. Friends are asked to omit flowers. Friends may call at the Pherigo home until 1:00 o'clock Friday afternoon.

JOHN K. TREES

John K. Trees, aged eighty-nine years, for
many years a resident of this county, died Tuesday at the home of his son, James R. Trees at Greenfield.
His death was due to his extreme age and a general breakdown. He had been very feeble for some time
and had been unable to take food for twenty-four days.
Mr. Trees was a well-known and highly respected citizen and leaves a family of seven children --- Alonzo Trees, of Indianapolis; Dr. James R. Trees, of Greenfield; Dr. Irvin W. Trees, of Mt. Comfort; J. J. Trees, east of Greenfield; Mrs. Lizzie Stutts, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Mellie Lacy, of Greenfield, and Liberty J. Trees, east of Greenfield.
The funeral will be held at the home of his son, James R. Trees, on south State street, Greenfield, Thursday at two o'clock p.m.
Mr. Trees was born in Clermont county, Ohio, January
25, 1823, and came to Rush county, this state, when he was about nine years old. He later came to Shelby
county, but in 1870 moved to Warrington, moving back to Shelby county in 1880, returning and settling in Hancock
county in 1884. He lived there in peace and happiness with his aged wife, Mary A. Trees, who passed
away two years ago at the age of eighty-three years. Since that time Mr. Trees had been living with his son. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church at Brown's Chapel, and was a man highly esteemed by every one who knew him.

Mr. Davis Trees who was stricken with paralysis two weeks ago at his home at 278 Harrison Ave.,
died at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday night, March 12, 1901. His death was expected for a number of days.
From the time he was stricken down there was no hope for recovery.
He was one of the best men in Shelby City; his circle of acquaintances was very large and his death is a matter of deep regret. He was always an honest man, a good citizen representing the best of every thing in the community where he resided. Mr. Trees was born in Rush County in 1832, but came to Shelby county with his parents when he was only two years old, spending all his life up to the time he come to Shelbyville, on the same farm in Washington Twp. He was married to Sallie Stafford on March 25, 1854, three children, Agnes Brooks, Mr. A. N. Trees and Pleasant G. Trees.

, Minnie, daughter of Benjamin Trees, of tubercular consumption, in the 11th
year of her age. The funeral took place March 25th at the Mitchell graveyard.

Mrs. C. E. Trees,
sister-in-law of Lee M. Trees, and sister of Dr. J. E.
Inlow of Alexandria, died at her home in Manilla, Rush county, Ind.,
on Saturday last. The funeral took place on Monday and was attended by Mr.
Lee Trees and Dr. Inlow.

Jacob Trees and his wife Sarah, (who had been married and lived together for sixty-one years) died very suddenly on Wednesday, the 28th ult, of pneumonia. Mr. Trees was 80 years of age, and his wife 78 years. They died only three hours apart.
