Gregory W. Treon

Gregory W. “Greg” Treon, 54, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. Born February 13, 1963 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Edward Treon and Beverly (Ray) Treon. Survivors include his mother Beverly Treon of Shelbyville; 2 children - Pastor Robert Treon (wife Bonnie) of Plano, Texas, Kelley Treon of Lakeland, Florida; brother Kevin Treon of Shelbyville; and one grandchild - Mackenzie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Treon.
Mr. Treon had lived in this area for 25 years, after moving from Florida. He had been a police officer, firefighter, and EMT. He graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in 1981, and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and HAM Club of Shelbyville. Greg enjoyed operating his HAM radio, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road. Dr. Robb
Barlow and Pastor Robert Treon officiated. Memorial contributions were made to Mt. Pisgah Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Margaret Treon, 73, died at her home in Jackson township at 1:00 o'clock this morning following an illness of 22 months. A native of Shelby county, Mrs. Treon was born January 6, 1881, the daughter of Thomas and Josephine (Scott) Stoughton. On January 11, 1905, she was married to Clarence Treon who survives with two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Shaw and Mrs. Sarah Stoughton, both of this city. Also surviving is a foster son, Charles Williams of Indianapolis.
Funeral services, with Rev. C. M. Hager officiating, will be held at the Mutz Funeral Home in Edinburg Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Auburn cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Rites for James Francis

James Francis Treon, 72, former Hendricks township farmer, died at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the home of his son, Francis Allen Treon, 733 Main St., after an illness of several months.
Mr. Treon was born in Hendricks township April 19, 1872. He was married to Sarah M. Lewis of Clark County, August 5, 1891. Five children were born to this union, two dying in infancy. Mrs. Treon died March 14, 1938. Mr. Treon was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Ernest Cushing, Connersville, Francis Allen Treon, Mrs. Freda Graham, both of Shelbyville; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Flora Farthing, of this city.
Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Josephine Huffer officiating. Burial will be in Second Mt. Pleasant cemetery in charge of Loren H. Murphy. Friends may call at the Treon home, 733 Main St., after 4:00 p.m. today.

Succumbs on 73rd Birth Anniversary

Daniel F. Treon, well known resident of Brandywine township, died at nine o'clock Wednesday night at his home in Fairland on the seventy-third anniversary of his birth. He had been ill for many months with heart disease. The deceased was born in Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arch Treon. For the past forty-five years he had lived in Fairland and operated a shoe shop. The widow, Mrs. Lillian Treon, and one foster daughter, Mrs. Aris Talbert, of Fairland, survive. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon with the Rev. W. A. Ryland, pastor of the Fairiand Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairland cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing. Friends are kindly asked to omit flowers.

Entire County Will Mourn Death of
Ferdinand Treon, Veteran of
Civil War.

Ferdinand Treon, resident of Jackson township, Shelby county, the greater part of his life, a veteran of the Civil War and one of the most highly respected residents of the community, died at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of his son, Clarence Treon, in Johnson county. Ailments brought on by his advanced age caused his illness for several years and resulted in his passing that is widely mourned in the county.
He was born in Bartholomew county in 1841, the son of John and Elizabeth Treon, pioneer residents in this section of the state. From his early boyhood, Mr. Treon had taken an interest in farming and most of his life was devoted to that vocation. At his death he was eighty-five yers, three months and three days old.
In August 1802, Mr. Treon enlisted with the Union Army for the Civil War and was assigned to the Seventieth Indiana Volunteers. He received an honorable dischar from the army on June 8, 1865, after having given faithful service to the cause that he served.
Returning to his home community Mr. Treon resumed farming. Later he moved to Mt. Auburn in Jackson township and there operated a shoe and harness shop for a number of years. Mr. Treon also served in the office of Justice of the Peace for about twenty years in Mt. Auburn and his active manner and disposition made him admired and known to everyone.
The marriage of Mr. Treon and Miss Mariah Leslie was celebrated on August 5, 1865 and nine children were born to that union. Mrs. Treon passed away about three years ago and surviving the father are two sons and three daughters. The sons are Clarence, of Johnson county, and William of Jackson township; the daughters are Mrs. Myrtle Garrell, of St. Paul; Mrs. Maggie Cramer, of Grant county and Miss Minnie Treon, of Jackson township. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Laura Fox, of Hope, Ind., seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Thruout his life Mr. Treon had been a devoted church member and was intensely interested in the work of the church. He was a member of the Christian church at Mt. Auburn. Burial will be in the Mt. Augurn cemetery.

Died, Andrew D. Treon at Marietta at 9 o'clock p.m. July 13th, age thirty-nine years. The remains were buried at the Patterson graveyard, services at the M. E. Church in Marietta at 10 o'clock a.m. July 15th. The minister in charge of the congregation officiating. D. B. Wilson funeral director.
