Rites Are Held For
Former City Resident

Funeral services for John C. Tufts, 83, Greenville, Ohio, former local resident, were held Tuesday morning in Greenville with burial there.
Mr. Tufts died Friday in Wayne Hospital in Greenville after an illness of several years. He is survived by his widow, Jennie; five children, including Mrs. Laurel (Lorraine) Ewick, Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

After an illness of but a few days, from influenza, Mrs. Barbara Tufts, wife of John Tufts, died at their home, 435 west Hendricks street, Monday morning. She was thirty years of age and was a weel known young matron of this city.
Her death comes with a great shock to her many friends and even to the immediate family, as there was no indication that her condition was so serious. Besides her husband she is survived by their three children, Charles, Lorraine and Cora Louise; her mother, Mrs. Sophia Schermer; five brothers, George and William Schermer, of Milan, Ind.; Harry Schermer, of Pekin, Ill., and Ervin and John Schermer, of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Carl Gartner and Miss Pearl Schermer, of this city; Mrs Andy Schalk, of Cincinnati, and Mrs. George Thomas, of Dayton, O. She also leaves a number of nephews and nieces.
Deceased was a regular attendant at the Evangelical church here and a true christian. Funeral services will be held at the late home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clocl and Rev. Samuel Caldemeyer of the Evangelical church will officiate. Burial will be made in Forest Hill cemetery in charge of Ewing & Oldham, undertakers.
