John F. Werbe, 44, R.R. 2, Rolling Ridge Addition, was dead on arrival at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday at Major Hospital. Death was due to a heart attack. He had not been ill. Born Feb. 10, 1933 in Madison, the son of James Earl and Louella (Sauley) Werbe, he was married June 22, 1956 in Franklin to Sara Dillman, who survives. Also surviving are his mother of Franklin, and two sons, John F. Werbe, Jr., and Joseph Andrew Werbe, both at home. A brother preceded in death.
Mr. Werbe, who was employed by Public Service Indiana since October 1957, became Shelbyville district superintendent in December, 1969. A 1951 Madison High School graduate, he attended Franklin College and Indiana-Purdue University, Indianapolis, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. A life member of the Disable American Veterans, Mr. Werbe belonged to the Franklin Memorial Church. His memberships also included the Shelbyville Kiwanis Club, the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and the Boy Scouts' Order of the Arrow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Horner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery south of Morgantown. Friends may call at the Ewing Mortuary from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
