Hugh B. Wickizer, 83, Shelbyville, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at home.
Born May 6, 1926, in Monticello, White County Indiana, to Donald J. and Helen (Boggs) Wickizer.
Married Mary Breedlove on June 22, 1952; she survives.
Other survivors include his sons, Karl Wickizer (wife, Anne) of Huntsville, Ala., Gregory S. Wickizer (wife, Mona) and H. Eric Wickizer (wife, Kim), both of Shelbyville, Kirk Wickizer (wife, Sheryll) of Nederland, Texas, and J. Bradley Wickizer (wife, Amy) of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Helen Jean Theis (husband, F.W.) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Wickizer Jr.; and one great-grandchild.
Owned and operated Tippecanoe Press from 1950 until retiring in 1991.
U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1950, with a degree in business administration.
Member of First United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, Blue River Elks Lodge and Unique Club.
Gathering of friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Knights of Columbus, 413 E. South St.

Six-Week Illness is Fatal
To Local Man's Mother, 85

Funeral services have been arranged for Mrs. Nora A. Wickizer, 85, mother of Donald J. Wickizer, of this city, who died at the Major Hospital Wednesday at 12:15 following a six-week illness.
THE LAST RITES will be held at the Grossman Mortuary in Argos [Marshall County, Indiana] Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be made at Argos. Friends may call at the Ewing Mortuary here through this evening. The body will be taken to Argos Friday morning.
Mrs. Wickizer had resided with the son in this city and also with a daughter, Mrs. Frances Douglas in Denver, Col., but maintained her home in Argos. She was born in Marshall county on January 7, 1867, the daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Wilhelm) Warner, pioneer residents of Indiana. In November, 1891, she was married to Frank M. Wickizer who preceded her in death in 1934. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Maccabee lodge.
SURVIVING WITH the son here and the daughter in Denver are four other hcildren, Delfay F. Wickizer of Pasadena, Cal., Russell R. Wickizer, San Bernardino, Cal., and Anita M. and Merrill W. Wickizer of San Francisco. Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Cora Myers of Argos.
