| Mrs. Julia Chaney was 92 on August 21, 1939 (picture and article in Shelbyville Rebublican August 19, 1939). She was born August 21, 1847 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the daughter of William and Hannah Howe Prentiss, who moved to Indiana in 1834. Julia was the youngest of five children. Her father was a school teacher in New York City before coming to Indiana. Julia married William H. Chaney June 10, 1866, and they had 8 children. Four of her children were still living in 1939: Mrs Emma Long with whom she resides with in Hendricks Twp.; Mrs. Hannah Chenoweth, Mrs. Edell Harris and Mr. Homer Chaney all of Indianapolis. |
