Looking at 1900 census, in Shelbyville, there is Rev. R.M. BENTLEY. His
wife is Melinda, born 1861, has given birth to 10 children, 7 living. There
are only 6 children in the home, the oldest born 1884. All of the children
were girls, Eva, Grace, Constance, Nellie, Trilby and Bernice.
In 1910, the head is listed as Rolland M BENTLEY. In 1920, Tillie BENTLEY, 58, could be Melinda, living as one of many boarders in the Wm L GREEN home . Someone on the BENTLEY genforum mentions this family, and in particular, Constance, who married Clyde BATES. Looking at 1880 census, this may very well be the same family, with Lillie being the only child then, age 2.
