----------
George Weingarth,
Through young in years, is one of the leading photographers in the State. He was born in the year 1851, in Oberhausen, Bavaria, Germany, came to the United States in 1853, landing at New Orleans, where he remained until 1855, when he came to this city.  In the year 1862, he went to work in the old Banner office, and on the first day of January, 1864, entered into the employ of  Alfred Bowman, photographer.  In 1867, he returned to New Orleans where he carried on business for a little over a year, and having a preference for the genial air of Shelbyville over that of the queen city of the South, he came back and again connected himself with Bowman's Gallery as assistant, which position he held until the year 1872, when he bought Mr. Bowman out, and carried on business in the same quarters.  On the 4th of September, 1876, misfortune overtook him in the shape of fire, which entirely destroyed his gallery.  He reopened, in a short time in the room now occupied by THE DEMOCRAT where he remained for one year, when he moved to the room he now occupies, which was arranged expressly for his business in the second floor of Morris Block.  He now has, without doubt, the best arranged room for the business in the State, and his facilities are such that he can turn out as good work as can be done in any city.  He is prepared to get up a good photograph, finished in the best style of the art.  Portraits finished in India ink, water colors or oil, in any size, from the smallest to life size.  He makes a specialty of enlarging photographs to any size and is making arrangements for the necessary improvements to make them as large as life.  In the way of picture frames, he has all kinds, styles and prices and the largest stock in the city to select from.  He will be pleased to see his friends at all times, and take pleasure in catering to their wants.
