          Be It Known, That on the 26th day of August A.D., 1852, personally appeared in the Shelby Circuit Court before the Clerk thereof, John White an alien, and reports himself for Naturalization, and being duly sworn on oath declares that he is a native of Scotland aged about 27 years, and owes allegiance to Great Britian that he emigrated thence, embarked at Glasgow in Scotland and arrived at Buffalow in the United States; on the 8th day of April A.D., 1849, and that it is bona fide his intention to reside in and become  A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, and to renounce forever All Allegiance And Fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatever; and particularly to Victoria Queen of Great Britian.
          Sworn and subscribed the 26th day of August 1852.

          In Testimony Whereof, I Jacob Vernon Clerk of the Shelby Circuit Court, hereunto set my name and the seal of said Court the above date.
