Letters  of  Administration


Know all men by these presents that whereas  Harvey Pope  late of Shelby County State of Indiana the Father of the undersigned  Lemuel J Pope  died on or about the 18th day of September 1852 in Washington Township Shelby County Indiana aforesaid leaving personal property belonging to him the Said Harvey Pope, which is to be divided among the heirs at Law of the Said Harvey Pope according to the provisions of the Statue of the State of Indiana relative to the distribution of the personal Estate of intestatess, and whereas Lemuel J Pope and  Mary Pope  were appointed Administrators of Said Estate by the County Court of Shelby County as Administrators of the Goods, and chattels, rights, and credits, which were of Said Harvey Pope deceased, but resigned before closing up the affairs of Said Estate; and Afterwards  Alexander Miller  was appointed Administrator of said Estate but died before closing up the affairs of Said Estates and subsequently                         was appointed such Administrator and is now acting in that capacity                     now therefore the undersigned Lemuel J Pope, Son of Said deceased have made constituted and appointed and by these presents do make constitute and appoint Havery Pope, of Greensburg Decatur County Indiana, my true and lawful attorney, for Me, and in my place, and Stead, and for my use, and benefit, to ask, demand, and receive, of, and from the said                     the distributive share of the personal estate of   / / / /   the Said Harvey Pope deceased coming to me, in right of my Self as one of the Heirs at Law of the Said Harvey Pope as aforesaid.  And upon receipt thereof by, on payment thereof to, my Said Attorney to make execute and deliver, a good, and sufficient receipt, release or discharge for the same hereby ratifying, confirming, and allowing whatsoever my Said Attorney Shall lawfully do in the premises

                William Brown would show to the Court that he is administrator de bonis non of the Estate of Harvy Pope deceased   That the assets of said Estate so far as the sums has come to his knowledge consists of Twelve (12) shares of stock in the Indianapolis & Cincinnati Rail Road Company & script of said Co. for $11.85 together with one unsettled Matter against the Estate of Alex Miller deceased, the former Adm of said Estate He asks for an order to sell said Certificate of stocks in said R.R. Co. at private sale and also for order to sell at such sale said script of $11.85.

In the matter of the Appointment of Administrator de bonis non of the Estate of Harvy Pope 
Deceased:   William H. Brown would respectfully represent to the court of Common Pleas of Shelby county Indiana that heretofore about the year A.D. 1852, Harvy Pope of Shelby county departed this life intestate, that afterwards letters of Administration issued to Alexander Miller who has since departed this life and that said Estate of said Pope deceased remains unsettled. 
            That the assets of said Estate on personal and of the value of about Five Hundred Dollars He asks to be appointed Administator de bonis non of said Estate. That said assets are in Shelby County, and that said Estate is without administration.
