Well Father it has been sometime since we have a chats in the first place I received a package one week ago containing $50.00 after it come and went back to Flat Rock then I got a letter from Brother Martin wishing me to write to him whether I had received it understand mr right I then called for it and it had been sent back some two days then the express agent wrote for it to be sent back to Camp Point and I also wrote to Brother Martin and it was accordingly sent then it was that I received it as I said above then I wrote to Warner that I had received it I understand by Warner that you went home with Brother Newton about the 21st of Oct and I supposed you would remain there during the winter therefore I write to you in Missouri. Father I have failed for two years making a crop and it has laid me flat but it was not from any neglect or attention on my part therefore I cant help it. We should have mooved to saline ot pettis county Missouri in Oct last but our babe two years old in July last took the Flux the fifth of Oct and was verry bad for three or four weeks then it had got so late in the season I was afraid it would be difficult to get a place I mean a place to rent for that is what I am obliged to do there is a doctor in Camp Point that is trying to rent a place in Louis county Missouri that is some fifty miles north west of where we are and if he can get it I will go over and see how I think I would like it though am opposed to going on foot further north but under the present circumstances I will have to do the best I can. Father I want you to get Brother Newton to write me your opinion of that part of Mo I have had two letters from Newton and he doesn’t speak of that country like I have always heard it spoken of before I do not think Brother Newton wrote what he did not think but you know evry body cant see alike I am in favour of liveing farther south than I ever have lived. I will here say after our babe got better of the flux I took it and was quite poorly for two weeks we are all well at this time give Newton and family our love for I truely hope he is doing well yet he does not speak verry well of the country in which he lives direct to Camp Point Adams County Ill for I reckon we will remain there tow months yet at least answer immediately on receiving this from your affectionate Son
