Last  Will  &  Testament
of
Narcissus  Bergen



In the name of the Benevolent of all, I Narcissus Bergen of Shelby County, Indiana do make and publish my last will and testament.


Item 1   I give and bequeath to my son Charles C. Bergen the following described real estate towit:  Beginning (37) thirty seven rods and ten links east of the north east corner of the north east quarter of  section (23) twenty three in Township (11) eleven north of range of (7) seven east and running thence south (4) four chains and (75) seventy five links then west (13) chains and (50) fifty links thence north (19 1/2) nineteen and one half to east (36) thirty six links to the center of a road thence north (19 1/2) nineteen and one half east (5) chains to the north line of said tract, then east (12) twelve chains and (35) links to the place of beginning.  The tract hereby conveyed containing one acre.

Item 2   I give and bequeath to my son  Charles C. Bergen  one Seth Thomas clock, and one old fashion bureau.

Item 3   I give and bequeath to my daughter in law  Rachel A Bergen  one New Home sewing machine.

Item 4   I bequeath to my son Charles C. Bergen and my daughter  Elizabeth Myers  and my daughter  Sarah Bone  the remainder of my personal property not herein mentioned to be divided equally, share and share alike, after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid.  I do hereby further state I give and charge the heirs of my daughter  Rachel Meeks  with $100, one hundred dollars cash, which sum of $100 I consider said heirs full share of my property.

Item 5

I do hereby nominate and appoint  William A. Mitchell  executor of this my last will and testament, hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise adjust release and discharge in such manner as he may deem proper the debts and claims due me.  I do also authorize and empower him if it shall become necessary in order to pay my debts to sell by private sale or in such manner, upon such terms of creditor otherwise as he may think proper all or any part of my real estate, and deeds to purchaser to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple.  I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made.

The State of Indiana Shelby County SS

          I Frank Glessner Clerk of the Circuit Court of Shelby County, Indiana do hereby certify that the within annexed will and testament of Narcissus Bergen has been duly admitted to probate and duly proved by the testimony of  Otho Goodwin  one of the subscribing witnesses thereto that a complete record of said will and testimony of the affiant in proof thereof has been by me duly made and recorded in Book 4 at paged 114 and 115 of the record of wills of said county.

In Attestation whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of said Court at Shelbyville this 22 day of April 1901
