Last Will
of
Jeremiah  Joseph  Stillwell



          I,  Jeremiah Stillwell  of Jefferson Township in Elkhart County and State of Indiana do make and publish this my last will and testament.  First, I deem that my body be decently interred and that my funeral be conducted according with my estate and situation in life, and such worldly estate as it has pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same in the following manner to wit:  I direct first that all my just debts be paid and funeral expenses paid out of the first of my goods and of the balance of my goods, I give and bequeath to my son  John S. Stillwell  one dollar and to my son  Samuel  one dollar, and to my son  William Stillwell  heirs, one dollar; to my daughter  Sophia Bryan  [or Shaton] one dollar; to my daughter  Louisa Wyland  one dollar, to my daughter  Elizabeth Woodward  one dollar, to my daughter  Mary Bonner  one hundred and twenty dollars; and all the balance to my son  Jeremiah J Stillwell.  And I hereby make and ordain Jeremiah J Stillwell my Executer of this My last will and testament:  In witness whereof I Jeremiah the testator have herein set my hand and seal this 10th Day of May in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight-hundred and fifty three.

Signed Sealed published and declared by the above make Named Jeremiah Stillwell as his last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunder subscribed our names as witnesses thereto and in the presence of the said testator and in the presence of each other.
