Thru a clever piece of strategy,  John E. Fout,  single, aged 42 years, of Fountaintown was landed in the county jail this morning after he became violently insane and before he had an opportunity of doing harm to his relatives.  Four men brought him to this city, and, notwithstanding their presence, the man might have escaped had it not been for  Deputy Sheriff Henry Terry.  Fout imagines he is to be married soon.  When the party arrived at the court house Fout started up the stairway leading to the court room.  Two men who had hold of him by the arm were pushed aside and he walked up the stiars[sic] and into the office of  Sheriff Moore.
Deputy Sheriff Terry appeared on the scene just in the niche of time, as Fout came down the stairway and started toward the front door after he failed to find the marriage clerk.  Mr. Terry rushed in front of him and saving a piece of paper in his face told Fout to follow him if he wanted to get a marriage license.  The deputy sheriff started toward the jail and Fout was placed in a cell without difficulty.
An inquest to determine his sanity was held before  Justice H. B. Cole  in Morristown, Thursday.  Drs. H. E. Nave  of Fountaintown, and  V. C. Patten,  of Morristown, assisted the justice in holding the inquest.  Fout first showed indications of being insane during the fall of 1910.  At that time he was morose and melancholy and took no interest in his work.  During the past week he has become very talkative and he talks about visits that he has never made.  Papers for his commitment to the Central Hospital for the Insane have been forwarded to Indianapolis and he will be taken to the institution as soon as they are returned.
